We ask Him to remove our fear and direct our attention to what He would have us be. Therefore, we started upon a personal inventory. A business which takes no regular inventory usually goes broke. Taking commercial inventory is a fact-finding and a fact-facing process. It is an effort to discover the truth about the stock-in-trade. One object is to disclose damaged or unsalable goods, to get rid of them promptly and without regret.
What About God?
The spiritual aspects of recovery and the ‘God word’ can be an obstacle for many new folks trying to get sober. Hopefully the ideas included in this short writing show that there are many ways to approach these topics. We as addicts and alcoholics have the same problem. The allergy is not about the mind or our will power.
I am aware that there are many paths to recovery- my path has been the 12-Steps. While this may not be for everybody, the principles contained within the steps and the program are applicable and useful to anyone seeking sobriety and recovery.
The Mind is also Abnormal
They developed mastery over resentment, became free of anger and gained courage through the defeat of fear. If we have been thorough about our personal inventory, we have written down a lot. We have begun to comprehend their futility and their fatality. We have commenced to see their terrible destructiveness. We spiritual malady have begun to learn tolerance, patience and good will toward all men, even our enemies, for we look on them as sick people. We have listed the people we have hurt by our conduct, and are willing to straighten out the past if we can. In this way we tried to shape a sane and sound ideal for our future sex life.
